Mr. Mighty Gravity

I’m ecstatic that my “one word” prompt is the first word for this week’s Just Jot It January. Thanks to Linda G. Hill for this wonderful idea!

As I was thinking about what to write for the word “gravity,” which I suggested (so no pressure at all πŸ˜… ), I was reminded of my conversation with one of my Chinese friends. She asked me what superpower I would like to have and why. So I told her the same thing I told my students last semester when we were talking about having superpowers in class.

I’ve always imagined how it would feel to freely fly up in the sky (on my own) from the very first time I got to fly (on an airplane).

So aside from having the ability to teleport (if I could have two superpowers, haha), the first superpower I would like to have is the ability to fly. And my reason is quite simple – I just want to fly! And maybe do something good to humankind as I fly my way to different parts of the world? πŸ˜‚

Now, wait! Where is gravity in all these imaginations and hypotheticals? πŸ˜…

Well, on days when I’m in my right mind, I know that flying freely up in the sky is impossible because Mr. Mighty Gravity would do everything in his power to not allow me to fly on my own and defy his own renowned superpower. 🀣

How about you guys? What superpower would you like to have and why? 😁

The Show Must Go On!

Today while I was having my last class of the day (and last class for the week), the power went out.

We were not even past half our lesson for the day. But thanks to WeChat! It saved our day.

I made a WeChat group for all my classes at the beginning of the semester. So whenever I need to remind them of something, I send them a message in our WeChat group. So today, since the projector wasn’t working, I took a picture of the slides and sent it to our WeChat group.

This is why I’m a huge fan of technology. It makes life easier. It’s a wonderful resource for things we need every day. There are pros and cons to everything, as they say, but it’s still amazing how technology helps make life convenient. So even without the projector, I was still able to continue the class.

Thankfully, all my students have mobile phones so they all had access to our WeChat group. So what was supposed to be a class guided by projected slides became a WeChat-guided class. πŸ˜‚

No matter what happens, the show must go on!!! πŸ˜ŠπŸ˜„πŸ˜‚
