The Show Must Go On!

Today while I was having my last class of the day (and last class for the week), the power went out.

We were not even past half our lesson for the day. But thanks to WeChat! It saved our day.

I made a WeChat group for all my classes at the beginning of the semester. So whenever I need to remind them of something, I send them a message in our WeChat group. So today, since the projector wasn’t working, I took a picture of the slides and sent it to our WeChat group.

This is why I’m a huge fan of technology. It makes life easier. It’s a wonderful resource for things we need every day. There are pros and cons to everything, as they say, but it’s still amazing how technology helps make life convenient. So even without the projector, I was still able to continue the class.

Thankfully, all my students have mobile phones so they all had access to our WeChat group. So what was supposed to be a class guided by projected slides became a WeChat-guided class. πŸ˜‚

No matter what happens, the show must go on!!! πŸ˜ŠπŸ˜„πŸ˜‚

Kaifeng One More Time

Once every semester, our school organizes a “Culture Trip” for us, foreign teachers. For this semester, we went to Kaifeng, one of the Eight Ancient Capitals of China.

It was actually my second time to go there. I decided to go again because the first time I went there it was raining the whole time, and it was freezing cold.

Thankfully, the weather was pleasant this time. So we enjoyed our stroll at the Dragon Pavilion Park (formerly known as the Emperor’s Palace) where they had displays of different kinds of Chrysanthemums for their Chrysanthemum Festival.

Here are some photos I took at the Dragon Pavilion Park:

And here’s one of the selfies I took there: πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

On our second day, we drove to the Yellow River Scenic Area where we went sightseeing by cruiser. Then on our stop over (before heading back), some of us enjoyed a moment of horseback riding while others rode a four-wheeler thingy like the one in the picture below. πŸ˜„

After lunch, we went hiking/mountain climbing somewhere around the Yellow River Scenic Area. Here are some photos from there:

Of course, there has to be a selfie πŸ˜‚

And that concludes our Kaifeng weekend getaway!!!

The moment of fun in that adventure was temporary, but the memories shared with friends and colleagues will last for a lifetime, I hope.

Have a great week everyone! 😎
